NAP-ICT Literacy Report Released
17th of November 2015
The Education Council, through ACARA, released the 2014 NAP–ICT Literacy Report( http://www.acara.edu.au/news_media/acara_news/acara_news_2015_11.html#20151117 )( http://www.acara.edu.au/news_media/acara_news/acara_news_2015_11.html#20151117 )( http://www.acara.edu.au/news_media/acara_news/acara_news_2015_11.html#20151117 ) demonstrating a decline in student performance in the NAP–ICT Literacy proficiency standards.
In a Media Release ( http://www.acara.edu.au/verve/_resources/321S1001.pdf )( http://www.acara.edu.au/verve/_resources/321S1001.pdf )( http://www.acara.edu.au/verve/_resources/321S1001.pdf )the Queensland Education Minister, the Hon Kate Jones MP stated:
“There is a risk that, as students increase their use of digital technology, assumptions will be made about their level of ICT expertise and knowledge . . . ICT literacy is vital for students to participate in a world that is dependent on these technologies. Students cannot reach the proficiency standard required in this assessment simply by using their own personal devices.”
IMPACT Projects provide a solution for schools in developing ICT Literacy for students. The IMPACT Project 2016 Series of; Booster, Unify and Transform, provide online learning modules that are both relevant and engaging to primary and secondary students. Students use technology to connect with like-minded students, teachers and inspiring university representatives regardless of their physical location. Students enjoy working, interacting, learning and collaborating in the online environment.

IMPACT Events Online

We are very excited to announce the details of our Round 1 Special Online Events!
These events aim to inspire and reward your project students. Expert guests from universities and industry log in to connect with project members via a live web conference.
The experts discuss their professional backgrounds, elaborate on the content of the relevant IMPACT Project and open minds to the pathways/possibilities associated with each project.
See below for details of each session. The expert guests will be interviewed by members of the IMPACT Projects Team and a few lucky project students will have a chance to “Ask the Expert!”
The events will coincide with lunchtime at most schools. Previous experience suggests that this maximizes student and staff attendance. If we conduct the session during school hours, then it can be hard for students to take leave from a scheduled class to participate in this event.
• Please ask the students to bring their lunch
• Book a room for the event e.g. library annexe, classroom/lab with projector or smartboard.
• Log in a few minutes early, then watch via a projector in a group or login to computers.
Please ask class teachers to support attendance. They can include students who are not associated with the project if this makes it easier e.g. watch with a whole class group instead of only project students.
