Just Write Years 2-3

U2B Booster Years 2-3

Course Information

Capable writers do not always reach the Upper 2 Bands in NAPLAN Writing. When writing on demand, many of these students have difficulty planning a cohesive and engaging piece. They sometimes limit themselves by writing to a formula.

Just Write students discover how successful writers create ideas and expand on those ideas to draw the audience in. They practise the craft of writing, constructing sentences and passages that convey subject matter, mode and tenor.

Target Group

Students should be tracking towards the Upper 2-3 Bands in Writing, operating at or above a reading age of 8.0 years, be able to log in and use a computer, and be ready to actively participate.

Assessment and Reporting

Assessment Reporting

A pre-test provides diagnostic data and identifies each student's starting point, and a post-test measures distance travelled.

Both tests require students to plan and write a narrative on demand in response to a given stimulus.

Schools are provided with a report containing pre- and post-test results, attendance data and survey feedback as well as qualitative report card comments for inclusion as an OLA.
